The Ultimate Dimocratic Letdown...

The House and Senate have passed pork laden bills that are supposed to be an emergency funding for our troops...

The result is to show what the Dimocrats are really about:
    1) Bigger Government
    2) Pork- earmarks which were supposed to be a target for reduction are now being used to buy votes to hamstring the president
    3) Show their colors for their alleged support of the troops
    4) Broken promises: no arbitrary withdrawal date, just to name one

Sickening.  Using the funding as a political tool to bring the troops home early:

Congress' New Low

INVESTOR'S BUSINESS DAILY

War On Terror: The United States Senate has a long history of regrettable actions. But rarely has it done something as low and damaging to America as its vote Tuesday to withdraw troops from an active battlefield.

That Democrats want the U.S. to go down to defeat in Iraq can no longer be questioned. The bill they narrowly passed would, in effect, ensure such an outcome by giving both al-Qaida terrorists and Baath Party dead-enders confidence they'll soon be able to rule Iraq through terror.

Veto, veto, veto...I would encourage President Bush to use the line item veto...strike out every piece of pork and leave the funding for the troops.  The Dimocratic Congress wants a Constitutional showdown, and I say lay it on the line Mr. President...the phishing expedition the Dimocrats are on to hang Karl Rove and Alberto Gonzales is but one example of the overreaching of the Dimocrats.  It is getting ridiculous.  It is nic eto see the president out taking a few shots, and he's out actually defending someone...and defending the war.  He needs to use the bully pulpit more to his advantage.  Whenever he does that, public support goes up...

Cathy Seipp: In Memoriam

The blogosphere lost a unique and trendsetting blogger.  Cathy Seipp was one of the first bloggers to link to my original website, and had commented and/or emailed me from time to time.  It was a pleasure to have "known" her.  My heart and prayers go out to her family and friends that are mourning her loss.

Susan Estrich, lawyer and FOXNews contributor, has a wonderful tribute to her friend and colleague.  I may not agree with Susan, actually I have never agreed with her, she is always forthright, honest and does not lack for clarity of her point of view.  Thank you Susan for expressing your thoughts.

And, if perchance her daughter Maia read this post, I am praying for you and would love to offer my condolences and any help you might need.  I lost my father in December 2006, and know that the loss of a parent is hard, but it is especially so for Maia as Cathy was so young and full of life.

Cathy, Maia, may God Bless you and comfort you...

Obama's Shenanigans

It has come to light that the viral video that hit the web this week was in fact created by an Obama campaign insider.  The creator was an employee of a website design firm, and he has now been fired or "resigned." (I am not ready to jump on the "What did Obama know and when did he know it?)

The shenanigans have begun as early as the campaigns for the presidency.  Do you think that the electorate may get a little tired of the knives being out for so long?  Will we lose interest?  Or is there a November Surprise out there?

I am not very excited at this point with the candidates on the Republican side.  I can not vote for McCain in the primary...too RINO...not too happy with the Guiliani candidacy (is he pro-life or pro-choice, is he pro-gay marriage, and what of his family morals, twice, or is thrice divorced?)...and Romney looks good, speaks well, but is he ready for the presidency?

I keep hoping that, somehow, someway, Dick Cheney- bless him for his service to the country- but that he might step aside (health reasons) and that President Bush appoints Condi as his new Vice President.  Now there is someone that will give Hillary and Obama a run for their money...can it, will it happen?

Then there is my other hope that some real conservative will step up and run- Newt? Fred Thompson?  Who is the November surprise?????

Any thoughts?

Valerie Plame Testimony

So, Ms. Plame is now before a Congressional Committee.  I for one feel safer that our congressmen and women are spending my tax dollars to parade Ms. Plame in a national forum in order to try to give the Bush Administration a black eye...

Do you think any Republican has the backbone to ask some tough questions:

A) Ms. Plame did you facilitate the sending of your husband to Niger?
B)  When was the last time you worked covertly overseas?
C) Ms. Plame, did you know you were listed in your husband's Who's Who information?
D) Did you make a contribution to Al Gore's presidential bid?  Did you list the CIA's fictitious address/business?

This is just another episode to be laid out on the big screen and the Dimocrats are playing into the disgusting display of ego.

Phhhhbbbbb....Much Ado About Nothing....

No Crime...no violation of the covert status...

Foolishness!

Iranian Defection: Consequences

It seems that there has already been measurable results from the defection of the Iranian former defense minister, Gen. Ashgari.  Counterterrorism is reporting that both Britain and France have reinforced security measures: France and the UK reinforcing security measures after the defection of Iranian Vice defense minister.

More success in Iraq, much to the chagrin of our "friends" on the left, via Threat Watch, Rapid Recon:

Patraeus' Briefing on Iraq

In Iraq

General Petraeus gave his first press briefing as CG of MNF-I. While the commentary and debate coming from our political leaders has shown some disconnect with events on the ground and the strategic necessities required to resolve the violence in Iraq, the General shows that he understands the task at hand and intends to fulfill his mission. For those who will not have the time to watch the video of the briefing, which is worth the time, here are some highlights of his comments:

  • Iraqi and Coalition forces are building their strength in Baghdad, and should be at full strength by June.
  • These are the early days of the effort - and it will have to be sustained to achieve its objective.
  • Sectarian attacks have declined and some displaced families are returning to their homes.
  • 96 weapons caches have been discovered in Baghdad and two car bomb factories destroyed in the last two weeks.
  • A “number of tribes” in Anbar are now working with the Coalition and Iraqi forces to defeat extremist in the region.
  • PRT teams will be doubled from the current 10 to 20.
  • US forces will protect Shi’a pilgrims on route to Karbala.
  • Iraq’s Council of Ministers have submitted to the Iraqi Parliament new laws for the equitable distribution of funds from Iraq’s oil reserves.

There is much more to be gained from the General’s words directly. The video is available on the Pentagon Channel - or for those who have trouble viewing the Pentagon Channel, we have made it available here at ThreatsWatch.

How nice to know that there is General, following the lead of his Commander in Chief.  Micromanagement from 50 Senators and what some 300 House Members- commanders' in chief wannabes!

Former Defense Deputy Cooperating With West

This has shaken the government of Iran.  Reports began to surface yesterday that this general had defected to the West via Turkey, and now seems to be credible enough for the Washington Post to update today with the following:

A former Iranian deputy defense minister who once commanded the Revolutionary Guard has left his country and is cooperating with Western intelligence agencies, providing information on Hezbollah and Iran's ties to the organization, according to a senior U.S. official.

Ali Rez Asgari disappeared last month during a visit to Turkey. Iranian officials suggested yesterday that he may have been kidnapped by Israel or the United States. The U.S. official said Asgari is willingly cooperating. He did not divulge Asgari's whereabouts or specify who is questioning him, but made clear that the information Asgari is offering is fully available to U.S. intelligence.

If proven true true this is great news, and we've had some good intelligence since December-January...unless he is a double agent proffering misdirection...

Very interesting, indeed.

Plame-Wilson Movie

There is something very wrong about the potential of a Valerie Plame, Joe Wilson movie.  I had to run to the bathroom when I first read this, and had to pray to the porcelain god...

You just know the two of them, their ego's can't fit throught the front door, are sitting in the multi-million dolar home in Maryland (I don't know where they live, the picture is there, though) trying to figure out who is going play their character:

Joe Wilson- 'Got to to Tom Hanks, or maybe Tom Cruise.'

Valerie Plame- 'Naomi Watts has my classic beauty.  They can recreate our Vanity Fair spread, easily.'

Sick...these two were out to parlay anything into fame, and to be around the famous.  I was hoping that Joe Wilson's 15 minutes of fame had came and went...
