Compromise:: The Two Edged Sword

I have long wanted to post on the subject of the word "compromise."  This week we have seen this word bandied about as though it was the answer to solving every crisis that we in the United States face.  So, we now have a "compromise" on immigration.  Senator John (I will never vote for) McCain*, would have us all believe that his hand was all over this, now called, "work in progress."  Recall, during the last Republican Debate (nice work FOXNews, you think that MSNBC could use a few of the excellent questions to pose to the Dimocrats?) he made a point to say that they (whomever that might be) have an agreement at hand "very soon, very soon."  He was beside himself if self-congratulatory effusions.  Now we are left with the "compromise on a Comprehensive Reform of Immigration."  A load of crap if you ask me, but nobody asked what my compromise might have been...

Next we can expect a Comprehensive Compromise on Universal Healthcare, a Compromise on Comprehensive Reform of Social Security, and you guessed it a Comprehensive  Compromise on MediCare...and on, and on the stuff will roll down hill.  And, in the middle of the heaping pile of stench filled garbage will be Senator John McCain bragging on his ability to reach across the aisle and reach a bipartisan compromise...

Hooey...

In Senator McCain's world compromise means a coming together of cooler heads, a reaching of mutual consent by the art of negotiation...blah, blah, blah.  In my world, and any sane, rational, true Conservative what happened in the art of making the Comprehensive Immigration deal a whole lot was given up and not a whole lot was given.  He sold us out.  Thus, in my world the definition of compromise is: a concession to something derogatory- in other words there is a lack of something, in addition to the giving up of way too much: leadership.

That is what is truly lacking in the Republican Party.  There has been a total collapse on traditional Conservative Principles.  Capital C, Capital P...there is a lack of leadership.  A very sad day, week, year for Conservatives.  If Fred Thompson is the new Ronald Reagan, he needs to get out there and show some real leadership.

That is why I am impressed with Rep. Duncan Hunter,  he sounded like a man ready to take charge and lead.  His answer about facing the real threat that there was a nuclear bomb ready to go off, and there were terrorists in custody, what would he do?  "It would take a 2 minute discussion with my SecDef, get the information..."  Loved that.  I want to hear more.

Is Rudy ready to lead?  Is Mitt ready?  John certainly is not, he's ready to compromise...never going to get my vote.  Thus the conundrum.  If this Immigration legislation passes, you can kiss the economy good bye, you can kiss the Supreme Court and Federal judgeships good bye, you can kiss NY, DC and others good bye (Security from terrorists) as we will have the first female president: Madame President Hillary Clinton, and oh crap, First Husband William Jefferson Clinton, arghhhhhhhh!!!!!!
=====================================================================================

*I will not vote for McCain in the primary, and if he gets the nomination then I will not vote for him.  And that is my very argument, he will drive the base to remain home, thus Madame President Hillary Clinton...

Duncan Hunter gets my vote and dolars for now, hopefully, in the very least he will have some impact on the direction of the party platform, and he would make an awesome Vice Presidential candidate!

    Shortsightedness of the Dimocrats

    When Sen. Harry "The Sky Is Falling" Reid announced that the Iraq War had been lost, and John "Jack A$$" Murtha (oh, sorry, I am not supposed to use words like that...) wants to pull the troops "over the horizon" to Okinawa, and San Fran Nan Pelosi declares that the time has come for our troops to come home, they had some unintended consequences.  The Iraqi Government is fragile, the peace certainly is fragile, well, there is another part of the process that is overlooked: the economy.

    Over at one of my favorite terrorism minded blogs, Threats Watch, they have a post regarding the impending troop withdrawal.  It is not far fetched to believe that a precipitous withdrawal will have consequences nearly as bad if not worse than VIetnam: literally thousands upon thousands will die in a struggle for control of the country, politically, and al Qaeda certainly would love create a Taliban-like safe have.  Caliphate lite...What may be overlooked in the MSM and by the shortsightedness of the Dimocrats is the fragility of the economy.  The US has funded thousands of projects, from road building, new schools, hospitals, other infrastructure, that is ignored by the MSM.

    Sure enough, many of the contractors that were over there to make life better and more sane (Saddam merely built his palaces, for himself, his insane children, and his cronies-perhaps Harry had a land deal in Baghdad that got  blown to smithereens?).  Well, no there is a preparing for what seems to be inevitable: a timetable for withdrawal- well, no money, no honey...

    Thanks Harry, Jack, and San Fran Nan, you forgot to look into the broader picture...

    My Email to Congressman Issa and Senator McConnell

    I am fed up with the Republican Party.  If the newest attempt at appeasing the liberal Dimocratic Congress by President Bush and the foolhardy Sen. John McCain is passed, even if there are major changes, I will not be able to support the Republican Party.  I will gladly give money to the candidate that best represents my core conservative principles.  I can't understand why John McCain continues to kill the Republican Party; his reforms on campaign contributions has killed basic free speech.  His compromises, and "reaching across the aisle" are only an abandonment of the party of Reagan, Lincoln, Roosevelt, and the Neophyte Pundit.

    Here is the core of what I wrote to my Congressman and Minority Leader McConnell:

    I can not express enough my extreme disappointment in the current Senate proposal for "Comprehensive Immigration Reform."  It is at best wrong headed and at worst disastrous.

    First, it is of utmost importance that the border be secured.  The fence must be built, and not the current proposed 370+ miles, but the full 700+ that was passed last year.  A double fence with room for the border patrol vehicles is the only way to secure the border from those who would cross illegally.  This fence can also be supported by smart technology.  There  is no substitute for a physical fence, as the border here in San Diego can attest.

    Second, after the first benchmark has been acheived the status of those already here can be addressed.  And, for what reason does the process need to be so convoluted.  Z-visas, Y-Visas, stay 3, 5, 8 years.  Go back to the home country...what?  I think sometimes the Senate and House suffer from the lack of KISS- Keep It Simple Silly.

    Third, no reform should be pushed through Congress without fully understanding the costs involved.  The current Comprehensive Reform cost estimates are in excess of a Trillion dollars.  The cost of giving benefits to those who broke the law in the first place...

    I would be honored if you would see my blog post on this proposal: http://neophytepundit.townhall.com/g/3a9d9042-85e7-4e2e-bd80-3799c29c696c.  I will support no Republican candidate for any office, whether that support is in the form of donations or my vote.

    In fact, I will support the candidate that is opposed to the current proposal in it's present form.  I was heartened to see Congressman Hunter come out squarely against this proposal, he will get my money and vote.

    Sincerely,

    Eric Jay

    I would love to see the moniker "comprehensive" dropped from the immigration debate; we need to focus on steps...first, second, third, etc.

    First: SECURE THE BORDER!  BUILD THE FENCE.  THE WHOLE FENCE, NOT A COMPROMISED 300 MILES, AS YOU COMPROMISE OUR SECURITY.  9/11 CHANGED THE DEBATE.

    Second: ENFORCE THE CURRENT LAW(S)= HIRE MORE BORDER PATROL AGENTS AND ENFORCEMENT AGENTS.  FIND THE MILLIONS HERE ON EXPIRED VISAS, THE FORT DIX CONSPIRATORS ATTEST TO THE FACT THAT ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION IS NOT MERELY THOSE WHO CROSS THE BORDER ILLEGALLY

    Third: REFORM THE PROCESS OF LEGAL IMMIGRATION.  GET IN LINE!

    Fourth: ADDRESS THOSE WHO ARE HERE ILLEGALLY, AFTER THE FENCE IS BUILT AND IS WORKING- 3-5 YEARS AFTER THE FENCE

    Fifth: CREATE A VIABLE GUEST WORKER PROGRAM...LAST...NOT FIRST...AMNESTY DIDN'T WORK IN THE 80'S AND IT WON'T WORK IN THE 00'S (OUGHTS).

    The House and Senate are howling at the Iraqi Parliament for thinking about taking a 2 month hiatus. Our Congress s not under the threat of gunfire, mortars, car bombs, assassinations, and IEDS The Senate (McCain) wants to push this sewage to a vote on Monday.  Can you read 1000+ pages today and tomorrow, and decihper all the Senate-speak?  All of this to go on a long Memorial Day vacation.

    There is no better argument for part-time legislators than this farce of a reform package.  And this one comes with a multi TRILLION dollar price tag!

    Candidates Position on the McCain Compromise

    Republican:

        Rudy Guliani: "Rudy's top priority and main objective is to ensure our borders are secure and to stop potential terrorists and criminals from coming in. More

        Mitt Romney: "I strongly oppose today's bill going through the Senate. It is the wrong approach." More

        John McCain: Do I need to spell it out- Disastrous, I refuse to link him.

        Duncan Hunter: Hunter expresses “fierce disappointment” over senate amnesty proposal More

        Mike Huckabee: Nothing on the issue as of this morning. More later?

        Tommy Thompson: Nothing on his site as of 6:54am.  More?

        Sam Brownback: Nothing.  More Later?

        Jim Gilmore: Nothing. More Later?

    Note from editor (look, I have promoted myself):  How disappointing that 5 of the 8 candidates have not put out a press release about this issue.  Those who did I would consider as the top tier, and, in fact, I am now more than ever looking at Duncan Hunter as my candidate for the primaries.  Now, I am somewhat biased as he is a House Member from my home (close enough) in San Diego.  I am so impressed with him he is the first candidate to get my donation, $50 for his stance on immigration and this foolhardy attempt at "reform."  Z-Visa', Y-Visa's, path to citizenship, and 300 miles of fence...disastrous.

    Dimocrats:

        Hillary Clinton: Nada

        Barack Obama: Zilch

        John Edwards: Nil

    Again, I am amazed that the most important news item on everyone's lips yesterday was the Immigation Reform debacle, and not one of the Dimocrats for president have anything to say on their websites...interesting.

    So, the bipartisan reform bill may well usher in the first female president...Madame President Hillary Clinton.  I am headed to Duncan Hunter's site NOW.  Donate now, and hopefully his voice will be heard, and if nothing he will have impact on the Republican Platform, and just maybe as a vice presidential candidate he can broker some influence on the world scene as a true Conservative!

    Comprehensive Immigration Reform: Can You Say President Hillary?

    I have never understood why it had to be "Comprehensive Immigration Reform."  To me it is such a huge problem or issue.  The greatest fear that I had was that each issue is so complex that it should have been approached in steps.  The biggest issue facing the US is the border; we must secure our borders, first and foremost.  Then all the other issues could be approached as time went by.

    Now, this gigantic, extremely expensive (cost estimates have reached the TRILLION dollar mark) compromise.  Republicans must, I repeat, must remain steadfast in insisting that the border fence is built.  Originally the fence was to be 720 miles, however, it was never funded.  Now the newest "compromise" includes only 360 miles.  What?  Did I miss something?  The Congress passed the fence at 720 miles and now we have "compromised" approximately half of it away?  That makes sense.

    Sen. John McCain, the man of the Gang of 14, the man of McCain-Feingold, the man who "reaches across the aisle" to work with his favorite liberal Dimocrat- Teddy "Chappaquiddick" Kennedy, bragged on Tuesday that he was close to brokering a deal on immigration.  And this is what we get?  I for one will never, never, never, vote for McCain.  If he were the nominee, which I will work against supporting any one of his opponents (well other than the nut case Ron Paul), I would not donate any money to the Republican party, not would I vote for him.

    I fear that this may well be the death knell for Republican presidential hopes.  I will guess that campaign donations will dry up.  The base has just been slapped in the face, again.  I would venture to say I am not alone in my disgust and in holding back my funds and potentially my vote.

    Thus, my belief is this: if this bill gets to the presidents desk, he will sign it, and we will have the first female president of  the United States: Madame President Hillary Clinton!  Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! Perhaps, if McCain doesn't reach the pinnacle of presidential aspiration loses the nomination could we have a Republicrat ticket?: Clinton-McCain?  Arghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Are you prepared for Universal Healthcare "compromise," liberal activist judges, the erosion of private property rights, higher taxes?  Well, I believe these will come about when this sham of immigration reform is passed and signed into law.  I am waiting to see where the candidates come out and align themselves with or against this s*&%.

    I have heard that Rudy's comment was that it is essential to secure our borders, and Mitt has come out squarely against the McCain Compromise.  The only thing that comes to my mind is disastrous...

    Ascension Day

    Today in Our Daily Bread there is a reminder of the importance of today; did you know:

    Today is Ascension Day—a day that is often neglected. Coming 40 days after Easter, it marks the occasion when the risen Christ ascended to the Father in glory.

    W. H. Griffith Thomas writes in The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia: “The ascension is not only a great fact of the New Testament, but a great factor in the life of Christ and Christians, and no complete view of Jesus Christ is possible unless the ascension and its consequences are included.”

    Thomas then summarizes what the ascension means to believers. It speaks of an accomplished redemption (Heb. 8:1), the Savior’s high-priestly work (Heb. 4:14), His lordship over the church (Eph. 1:22), His intercession for us with His heavenly Father (1 Tim. 2:5), the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (Acts 2:33), the Lord’s presence with us today (Matt. 28:20), and the expectation of His return to this earth (1 Thess. 4:16).

    Think of it! Jesus not only died, but He rose from the grave, went back to the Father, and is interceding for us right now. And He is coming again.

    May this Ascension Day be a time for special rejoicing and thanksgiving to God. Richard De Haan

    One day the grave could conceal Him no longer,
    One day the stone rolled away from the door;
    Then He arose, over death He had conquered;
    Now is ascended, my Lord evermore. —Chapman
    =====================================================================================
    So rejoice in the Lord, and bow down or kneel and praise God for the death, resurrection and the Ascension of Jesus.  He is here today as He was there yesterday, and is for eternity...

    RIP: Rev Falwell/Dennis Prager's Stumble

    I am saddened that a voice of Christianity has passed away suddenly.  I am, however, happy that he has now been called home to the Father.  The Reverend Jerry Falwell suffered a heart "event" this morning in his office.  He was the founder of the Moral Majority, Liberty University, and has touched the lives of countless thousands in his ministry for the Lord.

    Now the news is doing their usual 24 hour coverage of his passing.  And I had to laugh this morning while at the gym and the CNN reporter referred to Rev. Falwell the "leader of the Christian Right."  He was a voice for the Christian Right, however, he was not "The Leader."  Thus goes the MSM...

    Now we will hear all about his failings, and they will miss the missionaries his ministry has sent throughout the world, not to mention the students that benefit from a Christian education, and the many lives that they will (and have) touch(ed).

    RIP Reverend Falwell, you will be remember by this family as a man of faith, as a voice for right...and the VAST RIGHT WING CONSPIRACY...
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    On another note, I was listening to Dennis Prager this morning on the way to the gym and he was having a discussion about good and evil.  He said something that really threw me, and I hope there are those out there who will help me and perhaps Dennis with this...
    He said that God created this word, created tsunami's, earthquakes, etc.  He was saying that man is capable of both good and evil (I buy that) but then he went on to say that God was also capable of the same.
    I about crashed my car into the traffic light at the corner next to the gym.  WHAT?  This from a self described man of faith?
    In my Bible God created a perfect world.  No sin, everything good.  He created the Heavens and the Earth.  He created the animals.  He created man and woman.  He created the angels, one of whom challegened God, and wanted to God's equal...do I have this right so far?
    Satan and his angels were then cast out of heaven.  At some point in my Bible Adam and Eve were given dominion over all the Earth.  The only command they were to obey was not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge.
    So far so good, right?
    The serpent (Satan, right) came to the woman in the Garden of Eden and presented to the woman:
    =====================================================================================
    The Temptation and Fall of Man (Genesis 3:1-6)
     1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”
    2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; 3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’”
    4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
    6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
    ================================================================================
    Now, God had given man free will, to make up his or her mind.  Adam and Eve chose, of their own free will, to sin against God.  God then cast upon the world:
    ================================================================================
    14 So the LORD God said to the serpent:
          “ Because you have done this,
          You are cursed more than all cattle,
          And more than every beast of the field;
          On your belly you shall go,
          And you shall eat dust
          All the days of your life.
     15 And I will put enmity
          Between you and the woman,
          And between your seed and her Seed;
          He shall bruise your head,
          And you shall bruise His heel.”
    16 To the woman He said:
          “I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception;
          In pain you shall bring forth children;
          Your desire shall be for your husband,
          And he shall rule over you.”
    17 Then to Adam He said, “Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, ‘You shall not eat of it’:
          “ Cursed is the ground for your sake;
          In toil you shall eat of it
          All the days of your life.
     18 Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you,
          And you shall eat the herb of the field.
     19 In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread
          Till you return to the ground,
          For out of it you were taken;
          For dust you are,
          And to dust you shall return.”
    20 And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.
    21 Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.
    22 Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”— 23 therefore the LORD God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. 24 So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.
    ================================================================================
    So, God's perfect creation then became a fallen world.  A world that is full of sin.  Have I got this so far?
    God is with us when the Tsunamis happen, when earthquakes strike, etc.  He is there with tears, He is there to accept those who accept Him, and ask forgiveness, and ask for Him to take the steering wheel of their lives.  He does not intercede.
    This world is under the dominion of the Devil.  This is his playground.  He created the Tsunamis, the earthquakes, and the pain (of which I now fully understand, more on this later).  When God does intercede we call those miracles.
    You never hear unbelievers ask, "Why does Satan allow this to happen?  Why did he create the pain, misery, and death that strikes mankind?  Where is Satan?
    Dennis, Dennis, I expected more from you.  God can have no evil before Him.  Sin has separated us from God.  There is no evil, no sin in heaven. Evil, darkness, will pass into oblivion when Christ returns and Satan and his minions are cast into the pit of fire, for eternity.
    I apologize that I have not posted much of late, and I will explain more as the day goes on.
    Iraq Equates to Vietnam
    The next time a Dimocrat or some anti-war activist says that Iraq is George Bush's Vietnam, remind them that Iraq is nothing like Vietnam.  Then pull out this handy graph:
     iraqVietnamGraph.JPG
    While every death is tragic, we can not compare the number of deaths in Iraq to those in Vietnam.  They are not even close.  We must win in Iraq, we can argue back and forth about the reasons that got us into the war, but we can't ignore that we are there and that a precipitous withdrawal will cause far greater harm than remaining.  This argument that we can just redeploy is inviting a new Afghanistan.  We owe it to our fallen soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines the satisfaction of a job well done; a safe, free and secure Iraq will be a friend of America and her allies, and not an enemy bent on destruction and subjugation of the world.
    I would like questioners of the Republican Debaters the following:  Have you heard of the term Caliphate, and what does it mean to you and to the safety and security of the United States?  How does this term relate to the current War in Iraq and al Qaeda...
    Paris Hilton Tearfully Responds...
    • I have no sympathy for Paris 'Sex Tape' Hilton.  First, she is convicted of alcohol related  reckless driving.  She got a slap on the wrist the first time around.  Second, she gets caught driving without her headlights on and is charged with driving with a suspended license.  (If I recall, she ran into her home and didn't return for over an hour and was allegedly drunk that time,too.)
    So, the judge is a little fed up with the socialite (perhaps social-light is better suited, as she is famous for being famous) and is now throwing her in jail for 45 days for violating the terms of her probation for the alcohol related offense.  Now, I might have little more compassion for little Miss Hilton, if she came out and said, 'I am sorry that I violated the terms of my parole.  I am sorry that I drove with my license suspended, I take full responsibility.  I drove after drinking, and that is irresponsible, and thank God no one got hurt.  I would ask my fans and the court to accept my apology and I will commit $10 Million to anti-drinking campaigns for teens.'  Gee, ya think the judge might look a little differently toward Miss Hilton?
    Oh, then there's her tearful thoughts on her current predicament (maybe, I should use smaller words in case she reads my blog):
    "I told the truth yesterday. I feel that I was treated unfairly and that the sentence is both cruel and unwarranted ..."  There was also the requisite, "I don't deserve this..."
    Maybe on Monday Rosie O'Donnell can come to her rescue for the "cruel and unusual punishment for the undeserving rich and famous for being rich and famous and for the releasing of a sex tape that should never have released by my ex (insert: boyfriend, girlfriend, ex-spouse, ex-manager...)."  Rosie might get her off.  (Then again, {warning cruel taunt here} Rosie might have some influence on those behind bars where Paris might be abused by the tattooed persons of an alternate lifestyle).
    Aid and Comfort to the Enemy: Al Qaeda #2 Speaks
    If anyone had any question about our being in Iraq, and it's importance, might want to pay close attention to what al Qaeda has to say, and had to say for a long time.  Iraq is the central battlefield in the struggle of Islamofascisim and the Free World.  After Afghanistan fell, Pakistan and Iraq became a major staging ground for the al Qaeda leadership, if not THE staging ground.   Al Qaeda was in Iraq prior to the war, and now wants to try to establish a Taliban-like regime in Iraq.  Not to mention that the desire of conquering that part of the world and establishing the Caliphate, and Europe will become the new Andalusia.  (My suggestion to liberals and Dimocrats: Go read your history books.)
    Dimocrats need to face the facts, we lose in Iraq, al Qaeda wins.  We lose in Iraq, hundreds of thousands of Iraqi's may die like the killing fields of Vietnam.  The biggest difference is that Vietnam was somewhat contained, and an oil rich nation, surrounded by other oil rich nations with tenuous governments may well fall like dominoes, and then we are fighting for WWIII (some would say WWIV).
    Harry Reid, San Fran Nan, and the whole John Murtha mentality is giving aid and comfort to our enemy.  As I have heard before, if we put a withdrawal timetable into motion the Islamonazis will merely circle the date in blood...
    In New Video, Al Qaeda No. 2 Mocks Congress Bill, President Bush
    Sunday, May 06, 2007
    CAIRO, Egypt —  Al Qaeda's No. 2 mocked both U.S. President George W. Bush and the U.S. Congress bill setting a pullout timetable for U.S. troops from Iraq, in a new insurgent video obtained Saturday by a U.S.-based group.
    In the video, Ayman al-Zawahiri — who acts as Usama bin Laden's deputy — is shown in a white Arab robe and white turban, seated before a bookshelf, the Washington-based SITE Institute said.
    Al-Zawahiri speaks sarcastically of the U.S. troop pullout tying war funding to a withdrawal timetable, said SITE, which tracks terror messaging. The one hour seven minutes long video was dated May and had English subtitles.
    Islam= 0, Islamic= 0, Jihad= 0, Terror= 3
    Barack Obama gave a speech to the Chicago Council on Global Affairs on April 23rd, I heard nothing of it until I read WaPo on Obama by Marc Schulman.  The speech linked above is from Obama's website.  The stunning part of the speech is in context of the above post title.  He mentions Islam and Islamic terrorist exactly zero times.  He mentions Terror 3 times, but merely in the context of a part of the global challenges we face:
    "Whether it's global terrorism or pandemic disease, dramatic climate change or the proliferation of weapons of mass annihilation, the threats we face at the dawn of the 21st century can no longer be contained by borders and boundaries."
    "Africa.s Combined Joint Task Force, which was headquartered at Camp Lemonier in
    Djibouti. It.s a U.S. base that was set up four years ago, originally as a place to launch counter-terrorism operations. But recently, a major focus of the Task Force has been working with our diplomats and aid workers on operations to win hearts and minds (Emph. mine, ed' note: now the military wil be used to win hearts and minds...)."
    "...it requires states that have the capacity to fight terrorism, halt the proliferation of deadly weapons, and build the health care infrastructure needed to prevent and treat such deadly diseases as HIV/AIDS and malaria."
    The single greatest threat to the civilized world, that trumps all other factors including pandemic disease is Islamofascism.  The stated goals of these terror organizations is to destroy the West, whether Sunni or Shiite, Al Qaeda, Hamas, Hezbollah.  This is, as President has made it a central theme the battle of the 21st Century, as Nazism, Fascism, and Communism were in the 20th Century.  As soon as the Dimocrats and loopy Rosie O'Donnel, Michael Moore and the Move On Dot Org people catch up to that fact, and truly their civil liberties are gone, IT WILL BE TOO LATE.
    As the WaPo points out we need to hear this from the Dimocrats now:
    "Mr. Obama ought to explain more directly how he views jihadism. Is it an ideological challenge comparable to communism and fascism, as Mr. Bush contends, or merely an esoteric dogma held by bands of criminals, like the anarchism of the early 20th century? Is terrorism the central threat of the early 21st century, or, as some Democratic strategists argue, merely one of a panoply of challenges that include global warming, pandemics and the rise of China?
    More than semantics are at stake. Mr. Bush has defined the era after Sept. 11 as one dominated by a “generational” struggle against extremist Islam, both by military means and through efforts to spread democracy. For the next president to set aside that policy would be akin—at least within Mr. Bush’s conception—to a rejection, by the successors to President Harry Truman, of a U.S. foreign policy defined by the Cold War. If Mr. Obama, or the other presidential candidates, see the world very differently, now is the time to make that clear (Emph. mine)."
    Our next president could take Islamofascists and put them on the stage with fighting global HIV/AIDS prevention, or global warming, or Universal Healthcare.  If our attention and resources become detached from the Greatest Threat facing this nation and the world, terrorism will spread and the rest of the concerns will become secondary.  And, Rosie may be wearing a Bhurka (maybe not such a bad thing) or worse, instead of sitting in a studio in L.A. (I guess, or N.Y.) she will be wearing a nuclear bio-suit...
    Harry Reid says the war is lost...bring our troops home?  And then what, put flowers in their gun muzzles and send them to Africa to "win the hearts and minds of the peolpe?"  Will John Murtha relocate out troops to Okinawa (you know over the horizon, heh).  The Dimocrats tried desperately to score political points yesterday.  Holding the Troop Funding bill until yesterday, the "Fourth Anniversary of the Mission Accomplished speech by Bush."  And their mealy mouthed attempt to say that they still support the troops.  Not their commanders nor their mission, their risking their lives to secure Democracy.  Gee, and lets throw in some Pork Barrel spending...sickening.
    The DO NOTHING Congress...that wins votes.
